Here you will find access to the digital collections of the Herbaria Basel:

• Digitized herbarium specimens from the Herbarium of the University of Basel (BAS) and the Herbarium of the Basel Botanical Society (BASBG).
• The "World Orchid Iconography," including digitized herbarium specimens from the Jany Renz Herbarium (RENZ) and orchid images.

To access the "World Orchid Iconography," please enter "RENZ" in the "Barcode" field.

Digital access is under continuous development. Access to historical collections from the 15th to 17th centuries is currently being developed. Contact the curatorial team for further information.

Digitization has been made possible through generous external funding:

• The Foundation for the Promotion of Plant Knowledge and the Basel Botanical Society (2012-2024; BASBG-Herbarium).
• SwissCollNet (2022-2024; historical herbaria, ferns, Sarasin collections).
• Volunteers from the Swiss Orchid Foundation facilitated the creation of the "World Orchid Iconography" (until 2016).
